Hunters Cabbage

This is a family recipe from Germany and my mom used to make it quite rich with added lard, I have my own low-fat version and my family still loves it as a favorite comfort food, we call it "short-cut cabbage rolls". I make this in my pressure cooker.

1/2 lb very lean ground beef
2 lbs potatos, peeled and cubed
1 med head green cabbage, shredded or cut in strips
1-2 onions, chopped coarsly
1 1/2 cups vegetable broth, salt and pepper

Saute onions in a little of the broth until translucent. Add beef and cook until gray. Add cabbage and potatoes, stir. Season with salt and pepper. Pour broth over all and bring to a boil. Close pressure cooker. Let cook on low for 20-30 min. Open and stir, braking up potatos. This should now have the consistancy of a very thick stew.

We like to serve applesauce or canned peaches with it, the fruit compliments the cabbage.
