Q How healthy is sugar cane juice?

We would not recommend that any type of processed sweetener (including sugar cane juice) be included as a regular part of your diet; however, we do understand that people do enjoy sweets and may include them as a part of the Healthiest Way of Eating in moderation. Sugar cane juice does originate from a natural source and does retain a few vitamins and minerals; however, it is still considered a refined sweetener and high in calories. If/when you choose a sweetener we would encourage natural sweeteners (e.g., honey, maple syrup, molasses), and use them sparingly.
